As a result of a drug complaint and investigation the Strathcona County Municipal Drug Unit executed a search warrant on June 18, at an Edmonton residence with the assistance of RCMP General Duty members.

During the search police seized several items including what is suspected to be over 120 grams of cocaine, .22 loaded revolver handgun, ammunition drug paraphernalia, stun gun and Canadian currency.

During the search of a vehicle, police located what is suspected to be approximately 5.4 grams of crack cocaine.

Murtada Alattiya, 23, of Edmonton has been charged with;

  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose (x3)
  • Flight from police
  • Careless use of a weapon (x4)
  •  Unauthorized possession of a weapon (x2)
  • Possession of stolen property
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking

Alattiya was released on a Recognizance following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in court on July 29, in Sherwood Park Provincial Park.
