The Mounties in Edson need you help to locate a driver of a vehicle which fled a traffic stop and a short time went off the road and rolled multiple times.
According to Police, “On June 29, Edson RCMP Traffic Services conducted a vehicle stop at 10:25 p.m. of a vehicle on Highway 16 near Range Road 152. During the traffic stop, the 44-year-old male driver from Edmonton engaged the vehicle and drove westbound on Highway 16 at a high rate of speed.”
No pursuit was initiated for reasons of public safety; however, the RCMP member requested assistance from additional units in an effort to intercept the driver. A short time later the vehicle went off road and rolled multiple times, coming to rest in a creek off Highway 16 in the area of Range Road 171.
Edson RCMP were on scene shortly thereafter; however, were unable to locate the driver. Since that time, the Edson RCMP, along with the assistance of the RCMP Police Dog Service, Air Services, local and non-local search and rescue agencies and volunteers, have conducted searches of the area and the creek. The conditions of the creek due to large rainfall have made searches of the creek challenging. Search efforts continue at this time.
Edson RCMP continue to investigate.
No further information will be released at this time.
