A police search of two rural properties near Sturgeon County has produced $380,000 in stolen property.
According to the RCMP, “On July 23, Morinville RCMP as a result of a police investigation was granted a search warrant at a rural property near Township road 570 and Range road 241 in Sturgeon County.”
Westlock RCMP originally received a complaint of a stolen Kenworth Semi truck and trailer loaded with two Sea Cans with industrial chemicals along with a Bobcat Skid Steer on July 22.
The Morinville Mounties with the assistance of RCMP K Division Auto Theft Unit executed the search warrant resulting in the recovery of several stolen properties.
Stolen items recovered from the search warrant included the 2018 Bobcat Skid Steer, one of the large Sea Can container, a stolen ATV, a stolen snowmobile, a stolen John Deere Riding Lawnmower, a stolen holiday trailer, a stolen 2019 cargo trailer and a stolen utility trailer.
Also during the search, several insecure firearms were located with one being loaded.
The investigation in conjunction with the RCMP Auto Theft Unit continues.
Approximately $130 000 in stolen property was recovered at this time.
As a result of this investigation Curtis Sear of Sturgeon County, Alberta was charged with Possession of Stolen Property Exceeding $5000 along with several firearm-related offences. Sear did not speak to bail and has been remanded into custody for a Morinville Court date of July 30.
As a result of the above investigation Morinville RCMP along with RCMP K Division Auto Theft Unit, ALERT Auto Theft and the RCMP K Division Crime Reduction Unit executed another Search Warrant on July 24th, at a residential property in the Northern Lights Subdivision at 26023 Township Road 544 in Sturgeon County.
The search warrant yielded the recovery of the other Sea Can along with the six large barrels of the industrial chemical, three high end stolen vehicles and two stolen ATV’s.
An unlawful firearm was also recovered in this search. Approximately $250 000 in stolen property was recovered in this search. Jonathan Borle of Sturgeon County is charged with Possession of Stolen Property Exceeding $5000, various firearm offences and Breach of Probation.
There was an arrest warrant issued for Jonathan Borle for these offences.
