On Nov. 16, 2020, at approximately 8:30 p.m., police were called to a residence on the Eden Valley First Nation to assist EMS with a victim of an assault.
An adult male victim was located in the residence in serious life-threatening condition. EMS transported the victim via ground ambulance to a local area hospital. Allegedly, the assault occurred after an interaction between the victim and two other males. Forensic Identification Services (FIS) along with Southern Alberta District General Investigation Section (SAD GIS) were called in to assist with the investigation.
Rowdy Vern Benjamin, 24, from the Eden Valley First Nation was arrested at the scene and has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. Following a judicial hearing Benjamin did not speak to bail and is scheduled to appear in Turner Valley Provincial Court on Nov. 24, 2020.
Harris Twoyoungmen, 18, also from the Eden Valley First Nation has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. Following a judicial hearing Twoyoungmen was remanded and is scheduled to appear in Turner Valley Provincial Court on Nov.20, 2020.
As this matter is now before the courts, further updates are not anticipated.
